On Monday, the 21st of September, the morning assembly was very special for the children at Al Muntazir Girls Primary School. The guest speaker Dr. Suheil Chagani gave a talk on the symptoms of swine flu and how we can keep ourselves safe from it. Dr. Chagani explained all the necessary information in very simple language so that the young children could understand the context of the talk.
On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Dr. Mohamed Manji addressed the Seminary Girls, Boys, and Boys Primary respectively during the assembly program. On Friday Dr. Manji visited the Nursery School at midday and addressed the teachers and staff. His explanation was accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation to enrich the shared information.
It was a highly interactive session across the campuses in which the concerns and the high level of interest of the children and staff came out as they asked the doctor questions about various aspects of the pandemic.
The doctors answered all the queries from the children so patiently and clarified all the misconceptions and doubts so much so that the assembly lasted for nearly one hour!!
The children will now remember to cover their mouth and nose with a clean tissue or a handkerchief while coughing or sneezing and to always wash their hands before touching their eyes and mouth or before eating anything so that they can keep themselves and their friends safe from germs!!!
We sincerely thank the Central Medical Board for their active support and assistance in facilitating the program for Al Muntazir Schools. May Allah (s.w.t) grant Jaza-e- Khair.

KSIJ CBE holds Staff Retreat 2007
“An Institution that does not change, dies”
The KSIJ CBE has always believed that change is the only way to success. It also believes that change is not possible without the coordination and support of all the people involved in the change.
To pursue this objective, the CBE organized a Staff Retreat Program for the top and middle level management of the Al Muntazir Schools on 10th November 2007 at the Seminary Hall from 12.30pm – 5pm.
After the introduction of the program by Mazaher Tejani, the participants and their families were guided to the lunch area. The lunch was followed by an interactive presentation on Leadership, Communication and Commitment by Shabbir Moledina.
Mr Moledina guided the audience through the concepts of leadership that circles around the ability of the person to hold on to himself and at the same time connect with others. He then allowed the audience to air their views regarding the communication processes at the Institution and ways to make it more effective.
This presentation was followed by a talk from the CBE Chairman Dr. Dharsee on the Vision of the CBE for all the Al Muntazir Schools. The Chairman shared the aspirations that the CBE has for the schools in terms of Academics, Discipline, Religious Education, Parental Involvement, Human resource and Marketing. He then opened up a healthy discussion forum for participants to give their opinions and concerns.
The program was concluded by the CBE Board Secretary Mr Zulfikar Chandoo who imparted inspirational statements to clarify the difference between flocking together and flowing together. He mentioned that if CBE has to succeed with its aspirations, then each and every member of the Institution must learn to flow together rather than flock together.
In the end, the participants were asked to write down their wishes for the Al Muntazir Schools while networking over coffee.
“We should have these programs often,” one of the participants said. “It allows all of us to move together towards making Al Muntazir better than the best.”

The MC was Mrs Atiya Sumar, the CBE coordinator for administration. The function commenced with the recitation of Quran by Brother Liyakat Chandoo, one of the ALMIPS students.
The MC then invited Mr. Shabbir Moledina, the ALMIPS coordinator to give an overview of ALMIPS in terms of progress and plans. Mr Moledina mentioned in his speech that the current CBE Board and Secretariat have planned and implemented several changes at all levels of Al Muntazir Schools, one of them being the introduction of ALMIPS. He also mentioned that ALMIPS was mainly established to cater for the urgent need of locally providing quality higher education to the people of the nation. He informed the people present that although ALMIPS has started off its project by providing short certificate courses in IT and Management, it does have plans to start diploma and degree level programs very soon in areas such as IT, Management, Finance, Media and so on.
Mr Moledina’s speech was followed by the awarding of certificates whereby a total of 35 students were awarded certificates in courses such as Basic Office Applications, Office Accounting with Tally and QuickBooks and Advance Office Administration.
While thanking the audience for their participation, Mrs. Sumar mentioned that “completing these courses is not the end but it is the beginning of learning” and that in today’s world there is a need for continuous professional development.
Before the end, Mr Zulfikar Alimohammed, CBE Board Member with the Higher Education profile was invited to close the program. He encouragingly mentioned that the winners today need not be thanked or appreciated but should be applauded for being proactive when it came to professional development. He also mentioned that this was just the beginning of a long journey towards success.

Together We Stand…
On Saturday 25th November, the Central Board of Education celebrated its annual Staff Appreciation Day, at the Boys Primary School grounds.
The Guest of Honor was Mr. Asghar Bharwani and we even had a special guest this time Mrs. Mariam Tejani, former principal of Girls’ Primary.
The MC, Mrs. Zohraida Karim, did an amazing job of keeping us entertained with thought provoking anecdotes and lively and vibrant descriptions of the personalities.
The Guest of Honor shed light on the history of Al Muntazir Schools and inspired the teachers with his wise words. The Chairman Dr. Dharsee elaborated on the milestones reached and achievements of the current year. He thanked the principals as well as the board members for their valiant efforts towards the schools’ success. The staffs were elated when the Chairman gave them the good news that all staff was getting increments in their salary from next year.
The principals thanked their staff for the teamwork and dedication they showed throughout the year. Each principal stressed on the fact that their success was the collaborative effort of all the staff. The staff of the school had voted for persons in the following categories:
Best Teacher
Best Assistant teacher
Best Admin Staff
Best Support Staff
Best Watchman
Those with most votes were awarded and it was heartwarming to see the crowd cheering for their friends.
Mr. Shabbir Moledina eloquently summed up the purpose of the morning with some very meaningful advice. He said “We, as members of the CBE, contributing in different ways to the honorable cause of spreading education, must always take care of our ABCs.”
A is for Action…..how we treat those above us and below us in authority.
B is for Belief …. What we feel about this organization and its aims and objectives and how can contribute to it.
C is for Character…what we are. Because what we are is what we can make others by influence.
It was indeed a great morning, full of inspiration and motivation. Let’s hope this spirit of dedication and team work flows into the next year!
Thumbs up for the winners!!
Previous: Building Bridges…WAMA
The KSIJ Central Board of Education feels privileged and honored to be the first academic institution to respond to the First Lady’s noble campaign WAMA.
In a country where the opportunities for education are not equally shared and where a lot of talent goes wasted just because of the absence of facilities, Mama Salma Kikwete’s campaign is indeed commendable.
Education being the aim of the KSIJ CBE, we would like to add strength to the First Lady’s initiative. As a first token of our sincere support, we have allocated five scholarships in the Secondary School for girls under the initiated scheme named WAMA.
We hope that this campaign shall be a stepping stone that shall institute a new tradition of philanthropy and benevolence.
Visit by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Bedfordshire, UK.
On 2nd November 2006: The Vice Chancellor of the University of Bedfordshire Professor Les Ebdon visited Al Muntazir Schools. He was accompanied by the Business Development Manager, for University of Bedfordshire, Dr. Alisdaire Lockhart and Mr Nazir Jessa, a prominent community member in the UK.
The aim of their visit was to evaluate opportunities for Higher Education in Tanzania, and how they can partner with educational institutions in opening avenues for further education to Tanzanians.
On their arrival at the school, they were welcomed by CBE officials and were shown around the schools. This was then followed by an interesting and informative discussion on possible partnerships and ways of expanding the Al Muntazir schools into Higher Education.
The University of Bedfordshire is the largest provider of undergraduate and postgraduate education in Bedfordshire. It is particularly known for it’s computing and MBA courses and has state of the art media facilities, which rivals eve those of the BBC studios.
The CBE recognizes the importance of post secondary education in today’s era of technology and globalization. We are strongly looking at all possible ways in which we can broaden the educational horizon for our students and make university education more accessible.
